The NAVICUS.LAW team participated in the DRC Maritime Arbitration Forum in Moscow on October 17, 2024. Our colleagues engaged in productive discussions and shared insights on the latest developments in maritime arbitration and litigation.

Partner Konstantin Putrya delivered a presentation on recent trends in arrests of ships in Russia. His research showed how the sanctions landscape has propelled maritime disputes into the spotlight, covering various case studies like mv HONRISE, FLYING FISH 1, and AHMET TELLI, illustrating the evolving legal strategies in ship arrests. His key takeaway was that while Russia’s jurisdiction remains challenging for ship arrests, the new sanctions background has opened new legal possibilities.

It was our pleasure to meet with old friends as well as see new faces becoming interested in maritime arbitration and litigation issues.
