Founded in 2013, NAVICUS.LAW is a boutique law firm based in St. Petersburg, Russia, specializing in maritime and shipping law, commercial litigation, and arbitration. We handle both advisory work and dispute resolution, with a particular expertise in managing complex maritime law matters, including ship arrests in Russia.

Maritime Disputes and Arbitration

We possess comprehensive expertise across all Russian courts. We have been involved in numerous landmark cases, including those at the Supreme Commercial Court of the Russian Federation. Our legal team excels in complex maritime disputes involving ship collisions, arrest of vessels, bunkers, and cargo, and we are adept at enforcing foreign judgments and arbitral awards.

Settling the largest maritime claim in Russia valued at USD 65 million, favoring a P&I club and a Greek shipowner.

Historic Recognition

Achieving the first recognition and enforcement of a United States Court Judgment in modern Russia in the absence of a relevant international treaty.

Marine Casualties

Our team resolved most of the oil and bunker fuel spill cases in Russian history, including a major case in Saint Petersburg with claims amounting to several million USD, where the Bunkers Convention 2001 was applied for the first time in Russia’s history. We are prepared to promptly attend casualty sites, interrogate crew members, gather evidence, and liaise with third parties, including state authorities, to protect the interests of stakeholders like shipowners, cargo owners, contractors, salvors, or insurers.

Handing a case for major Russian shipowner following an onboard explosion that resulted in crew fatalities, entailing criminal proceedings and marine insurance issues.

Customs and Criminal Proceedings

Managing multiple cases against crew members accused of violating customs regulations related to drug declarations and store misdeclarations. We also support shipowners throughout prosecution and investigative actions.

Marine Insurances

Our lawyers have successfully secured insurance compensation for Russian and international shipowners from various Russian insurers through state commercial courts and arbitration, including under the Maritime Commission at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia.

Representing the interests of a Turkish insurer in recovering losses from the party responsible for the damage, a maritime port, following an insurance event involving partial loss and damage to cargo being loaded and stored at the port.

Ship Insurance

Representing the interests of a Greek shipowner in litigation at the Commercial Court of Moscow under English law in a dispute involving the constructive total loss of a tanker insured porsuant to ITC Hulls.
