The prestigious Queen Mary University of London recognises DIAC as the leading arbitral institution in the Middle East. Over the past 30 years, the Centre has evolved from a department within the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry into a fully independent institution.
Notably, the updated DIAC Rules provide for the following:
- the appointment of an Emergency Arbitrator for the prompt determination of applications for interim measures;
- the use of third-party funding arrangements;
- the consolidation of proceedings and the joinder of additional parties;
- the conduct of hearings via video conference;
- the application of expedited proceedings for claims valued at up to USD 270,000.
